Stumper Problems

What are Stumper Problems?

Stumper problems are zany made up problems that kids have to solve creatively...such as "How long would it take you to bike to Disney World?"  They learn about making assumptions, thinking creatively, projecting and estimating, problem solving strategies, reasonableness of answers, and more!  There is no right answer, but there sure is lots of cool thinking...and tragic oversights!  :) 

 

We often have students put together light-hearted presentations to share their problem solving approach with the class and have them critique each other's solutions.  These work great to fill 2-3 days with a change of pace!​​​​
